American Celebration On Parade
American Celebration on Parade houses 27 massive full-size parade floats and over 100 props from Presidential Inaugurals, Tournament of Roses, and other national celebrations. The owner of Shenandoah Caverns, Earl Hargrove Jr., also owned a large decorating company called Hargrove Inc. They began building the parade floats for the presidential inaugural in 1949 for President Truman, and have done all the inaugural floats since then. They have created floats for Rose Parades, Miss America Pageant Parades, Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day parades, and many others. American Celebration allows guests to stand where presidents and other famous Americans have stood. Visitors experience the floats up close, at their own pace. It's a once in a lifetime experience!
Main Street of Yesteryear
Main Street of Yesteryear is a display of antique department store windows from the 1940s and 50s.There was a time when children couldn't wait to visit city department stores during the holiday season to look at the elaborate window displays. Today's children can experience the same excitement when they see our Main Street of Yesteryear with more than 100 animated figurines--many of them part of the original displays from over half a century ago. Visitors will be welcomed by the big brown bears from the Rose parade, then wind their way down Main Street to see windows filled with the fully restored displays. The displays were all collected and restored by Earl Hargrove.
